Parent-Teen Mediation
In parent-adolescent mediation, families work with mediators to discuss issues such as school attendance and performance, curfew, social life, friends, household chores, privacy and communication. Family members work toward mutually agreed-upon solutions that meet each other's needs. The process is based on the premise that agreements relating to daily living increase trust between parents and youth, and facilitate negotiation of larger issues in the future.
Parent-adolescent mediation is designed to offer an early intervention option for parents and teens in conflict. Through mediation, more serious problems of family violence, delinquency or placement outside the home may be avoided.
