Underground Film Series

In October 2010, KIPCOR was asked to be among the first 100 venues in the United States to sponsor a screening of the documentary Little Town of Bethlehem. The film tells the stories of three men - two Palestinians, one Israeli - who are using nonviolent methods to address the conflict in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

EthnoGraphic Media of Oklahoma City produced Little Town of Bethlehem. Jennifer Tipton, EGM's San Francisco-based grassroots manager, found KIPCOR as she was scanning Bethel's website for information on programs related to peace, tolerance and social justice-related programs. "I [was] really impressed by [KIPCOR's] background and research on conflict resolution, as well as KIPCOR's mission," Tipton said.

Tipton and colleague Cary McQueen Morrow went on to found Art with Impact, an arts-based, social-engagement organization with a mission "to connect people to global issues through art and media and provide them opportunities to share their voices and time in meaningful ways." Art with Impact works through three programs, one of which is the Underground Film Series

Based upon its successful screening of Little Town of Bethlehem last, Tipton invited KIPCOR to participate in the new Underground Film Series. The 2011-2012 inaugural series focuses on issues related to Israel/Palestine. The 2012-2013 series will focus on issues related to mental health, and the 2013-2014 series will address gender equity.

All screenings are free and open to the public, with freewill offerings taken.
